Markets on Koh Samui

Checking out the markets is a must and you will enjoy a visit to one or all of the markets available on Koh Samui during your stay.

BoPhut Walking Street is the market that attracts the greatest number of visitors. It is held every Friday night, starting from 6 pm. Locals and guests alike are to be found promenading through the main road of Fisherman’s Village, meeting with friends, tasting the food, and browsing through the many things offered at the stalls and shops, where nice handcrafted gifts and local delicacies can be found.

Live music and a relaxing atmosphere have made Walking Street in Fisherman’s Village the most popular weekly event on the island - don’t miss it!

Within walking distance of the Paradise Beach Resort, another market takes place every Thursday evening in Maenam (starting from 6 pm and lasting until approximately 10 pm). Even though it is a bit less frequented than the market in Fisherman’s Village and the products offered are rather similar, you should not miss a chance to visit this market as well.

Other markets you might want to visit, though a bit farther away, are the Walking Streets in Lamai and Chaweng.

Local fresh food markets are places you really should visit in order to experience where the locals purchase their products.A local fresh goods market often frequented by our guests is located near Big Buddha, offering fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood and many other products. You may not like the smell or the way the products are presented, but we can assure you that the quality of all products is outstanding.

Don’t hesitate to taste what is available and learn about things you've never seen before. The local Thais will be delighted to see you enjoy the products they offer you to taste.
If you are lucky you will have the chance to visit a local fair set up in a Temple area. Such markets are very popular among Thais and it is always interesting to see what is offered. At such events, games and live concerts will be held until late at night. Immerse yourself in these events and get to meet friendly locals who will be happy to help and explain all you may want to know.
